Tips for job interview

Usually, taking an interview is one part of applying for a job. It is the best opportunity for a job-hunter when there are vacant positions in the company. Some specific points can be mentioned, such as, the reason why he is the best person for the position, the qualifications or the technical skills he is equipped with.

Meanwhile, a successful interview may take place if the applicant has connection in the company. It is a special short cut to this person. One disadvantage is, even though there is no vacancy available for him, at least he will be treated hospitably.

The worst situation for an applicant is that there is no vacancy available and he has no connection. In that case, he must make every effort to give the interviewer a favorable impression if he can get the chance of taking an interview.

Anyway, to succeed in an interview is not easy. ometimes the interviewee has to lower his social status. Faced with these, he must be well prepared for these; clear mind and bright eyes are necessary. As for the appearance, the following points are essential: Is his shoes polished? Are his socks fine? Is his handbag scuffed? Is his shirt clean? Is his hair tidy? Is his nails beautified? Women shouldn’t wear jewelry except for necklace and earrings; they shouldn’t wear heavy make-up and use heavy perfume; they should never wear pants. Neglect of any details may cause the failure of the interview.

To be successful in an interview, the following points he must pay attention to:
(1) Keep a resume in the bag (in case the interviewer has lost your resume.) and bring samples of his work, letters of recommendation and reference.
(2) Be always confident while answering questions to convince the interviewer he is competent to do the job.
(3) Be flexible, indicating that he is also competent in other positions available. If he makes a good impression, he may be offered another position. Now, he’d better mention that he considers the position with the company as his career, not just a job.
(4) Don’t feel free to talk about some notable people, who can be written in the applicant letter. only his own experience shall be presented. If he has not much experience because of being young, he can focus on the desire of working in the company. If the interviewer has been impressed by his desire of working only for the company, then there is a great possibility of success. When an inexperienced applicant says: “I wonder what I shall do while working and I need to be instructed.” Then, he has made a big mistake. (Make it clear before the interview.)An applicant should tell the interviewer with enthusiasm:” I am willing to do anything assigned, and I believe I can do it well”.
At the end of the interview, an interviewer often asks: “Any questions?” As a matter of fact, this is a hint for the interviewee to ask questions about salary, welfare, or vacation etc. If he really wants to get the job, the fewer this kind of questions are, the better. He may obtain that information from other workers, Usually, there are some brochures in the personnel department which can provide the information.
After the interview, whether it is successful or not, a letter of thanks is much necessary. If he fails to get the job, he can call and say sincerely:” I know you are terribly busy, I would highly appreciate it if you can give some constructive advice on my resume and my performance in this interview. I wonder how I can do it better in the future.” With sympathy the interviewer may confess to you. It will be the most precious treasure for the applicant.
