Some people like to keep records or experiences by exposing photos on social networking sites. Others do not like to create such records. Which way do you prefer? 有些人愿意在社交網(wǎng)站上記錄自己的生活,分享自己的經(jīng)歷,發(fā)布照片等,有些人則不會(huì)這樣做,你更傾向于哪種方式?

  寫作范文

Social networking has increasingly drawn modern dwellers’ attention, and it has become an indispensable part of everyday life, such as searching for information, communicating with friends or colleagues and even accomplishing certain business agendas. While some people are more used to uploading pictures or other private information online, others see this as a way that would bring risks to their life. From my perspective, the benefits of this sharing method outweigh its counterpart.

Admittedly, there are some reasons to justify people who do not like uploading information online. By posting photos with geographic information on websites like Sina Weibo or Facebook, other people would soon be aware of your location, and this might put threat to your safety. Also, by keeping records like identification number online, it would make other people easy to fetch these private information, causing potential identify theft. However, as long as people are able to improve the awareness of confidentiality, the problem will be solved. Without sharing sensitive information, the online posts could add more fun to life by making comments under each status post, which bond friends together.

For people who like to keep records online, the social network is easy to record everyday life. Thanks to the boosted development in mobile phone service, cellphones bear the potential to keep most logs about life. For example, when people are traveling to Los Angeles for Christmas, it is usually the case that they could take photos of the amazing scenes in Santa Monic Beach or even shoot a video clip about the wonderful tour in Universal Studio. With a single click operation, these photos or video clips would be uploaded into cloud where information is safely stored. Meanwhile, friends could also enjoy the same experiences by browsing your online records. In this way, keep records online serves as an medium to store and share personal experiences.

What is more, keeping records online is also capable of spread useful information. In others, for teachers or company managers, it is always easy to upload some documents in online disk, where students or members of staffs could download the important materials. According to a survey conducted by Sina Weibo, after polling hundreds of teachers in the Beijing from different level of schools, a significant percentage of respondents claim that storing class notes, test samples and even specifics of the experiments in the disk related to their Facebook account, their students are able to download these materials whenever they are, which makes the scene that students rush to teachers to copy educational materials via USB disk disappear.

To sum up, though there are people who love try to hide from keeping records online, I still give my supports to sharing information online. The reason for this is that it can people more convince and deliver more useful information to people.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement: Being creative, rather than planning carefully more often results in the best solution of a problem. 有創(chuàng)意比小心謹(jǐn)慎地規(guī)劃是解決問題更好的方法,是否認(rèn)同?

If I were asked which weapon I prefer to use to win a battle—shield or spear, I think I would lose using any weapon alone. It can be vividly compared to this topic. When finding solutions to a problem, a careful plan is like a strong shield protecting us from going into chaos, while creativity is like a sharp spear helping us solve problems efficiently. We need both of them.

To begin with, let’s look at the importance of being creative. On the one hand, being creative can help people think out of the box and find effective solutions. On the other hand, without ideas coming from creative thinking, plan can be nothing but a mere scrape of paper. Here is an example of being creative. Back to the years when online trading was not so prevailing as it is today, most books were sold in bookshops. As a result, there was a limited space to store books and a limited radius of potential customers. To solve such problems, Amazon decided to store their books in large warehouses and sell them on the Internet. In this way, they can offer a greater selection of books at a lower cost and to more people. This creative idea not only solved the problems of limited space of storage, but also made Amazon.com a success in an already competitive market.

However, most of the time, creativity alone cannot guarantee a best solution. Creative ideas need to be organized and planned carefully to be effective. Planning is leveraged time. Several minutes planning before tackling a problem can improve our productivity and efficiency greatly. Lacking this step, any good idea from brainstorm may be fruitless. Here is an example of my own. At the end of every semester, I always run into a rushing time, because I have to prepare for the examinations, finish several papers, and close some research report. It is quite easy to get lost in such a busy time. Thus, I started to learn planning strategically to improve my efficiency. I would establish a “to do” list according to priorities of things and tick off the items as I move forward. In this way, I can manage my time and solve multiple problems at the same time.

In conclusion, I would like to quote a saying from General Eisenhower, “In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.” If we plan without being creative, it is certainly meaningless. The best solution to a problem always comes up when planning carefully and thinking creatively work together.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement: The best way for a teacher to help students interested in a subject is to explain that subject will help them outside school. 老師幫助學(xué)生對(duì)一個(gè)科目產(chǎn)生興趣的最佳方法就是告訴它那門科目在學(xué)校之外的作用,是否認(rèn)同?

  寫作范文

Our interest in a subject is influenced by many things. For subjects with direct, practical applications outside of school, this extracurricular significance may be a huge factor in determining a student's interest in it. In these cases, it would be suitable to teach them about the subject's significance outside of school. For subjects that don't have many practical applications, however, this may not be the case.

For a subject like art, for example, teaching students about its significance outside of school may actually have the opposite effect. Art has very little practical utility, and I say this as someone who absolutely loves art. It is a fairly noncontroversial viewpoint, reinforced by the fact that art funding is universally one of the first things sent to the chopping block during government budget crunches. Its true significance is even debated by those in the art world--this is something I can personally attest to, having been party to many of these debates while studying art during my M.A. program. For those not already inspired by art classes, learning about art's extracurricular significance is probably not going to be the best way to get them excited about it.

The same could be said of philosophy. Philosophy, at least in the Western tradition, used to have practical applications. That was several hundred years ago, back when science still comprised a branch of philosophy. Nowadays, people will reflexively cringe when they hear you have a philosophy degree. And who could blame them? Philosophy is almost by definition an airy pursuit--its name comes from the term "philosophia", Greek for "the love of wisdom". Loving wisdom is not an employable skill-set, and I have a feeling that teaching students about this lack of practical utility will do little to sway the unconverted. Why should they get excited about a subject with no obvious use?

These are both subjects near and dear to my heart, and I think it would be a shame if more people were not adequately exposed to them. I think the best way to get students interested in these subjects, however, is not to talk about their grander significance outside of school, but to make them more immediate and personal. Studying Buddhist philosophy helped me to detach myself from a life focused on material gain. Experiencing Mark Rothko's massive color-field paintings gave me personal insight during a difficult period of depression. These are two ways in which more personal encounters can deepen a person's interest in them, and it's far more impactful and longer-lasting than.

Teaching students about a subject's extracurricular significance is important, but for some subjects, there are better ways of stoking their interest.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement: students nowadays are more interested in politics than in the past. 與過去相比,學(xué)生現(xiàn)在對(duì)政治更感興趣,是否認(rèn)同?

  寫作范文

Students have always been an active demographic in the arena of politics. Students have a tendency to be more idealistic and therefore have always participated in the most current political issues. While this has always been the case, the turn of the century has marked a significant change in the role that students play in politics. There are more students concerned with politics today than previous generations.

Our generation of students is more interested in politics, because as children we saw how world politics could affect our lives. We all remember the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and we all witnessed how it changed America and American politics. We grew up understanding that what happens in our country and in other countries’ politics has consequences. Also, the growth of the internet has also made our generation of students keenly aware that the world is interconnected. More so than any generation before use, we are aware that national politics have a global audience.

A sign of how much more invested our generation is in politics is the various student lead movements that have swept the nation. The first was the Obama campaign of the 2008 presidential elections. This was one of the first elections in which the college-age vote had a huge impact on the outcome of the elections. More recent is the Occupy Wall St. Movement, a student lead political protest against the corruption of Wall St. and the corporations that were responsible for the economic crisis. The Occupy Movement has also taken on other causes and students have started to occupy in cities across the U.S. These mass political movements are student lead and are a sign of just how politically conscious students are today.

Admittedly, there have been other times in U.S. history when students played a huge role in politics. The student protest against the Vietnam War in the ‘60s and ‘70s was a particularly strong and vocal movement. However this movement only focused on ending the war in Vietnam. I think student political movements today are much more varied and sophisticated. Students not only address the issues of the War in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also more complex issues such as health care and the financial crisis. We are not just concerned about one facet of politics, but all facets of politics.

Even though students have always been actively involved in politics, students today are more informed and concerned about politics than any previous generation of students. We understand the global impact of American policies and we understand that what we do in light of the policies makes a difference.

The way a person is dressed in is a good indication of his/her personality. 一個(gè)人的穿著打扮可以很好地透露出他/她的性格特征。

  寫作范文

To some, clothes are everything. These people closely follow the latest fashions and take great pride in looking put-together. To others, clothes serve merely a functional purpose. These people regard clothing as practical possessions and nothing more. Most people fall somewhere in between these two perspectives, and I think that looking at how they dress can tell you a lot about what kind of people they are.

This is clearly evident in work environments. Is the person's work uniform dirty, wrinkled, and messily worn? Or is it pristine and cared for, and seemingly worn with pride? By taking a look at someone's work clothes, you can easily tell what kind of character they have when it comes to work. Those who are dedicated and proud of their jobs will keep their uniform in good condition, whereas those who have little love for their jobs will reflect that attitude through their uniform. This type of rule also applies in office environments. If professional dress is mandatory, then the ones who care the most will be the ones most impeccably dressed-they'll be sporting fresh-looking ties, well-ironed shirts, and lovingly-maintained shoes.

You can also tell a lot about a person by the type of clothes they wear when at home. Are they wearing old, comfortable sweatpants, or tight fashionable jeans? Those who are more tightly wound and care a lot about fashion may be well-dressed all the time, while those who are more laid-back and casual will take the chance to wear more relaxed dress. My best friend Karen, for example, is the type of person who wears casual-but good-looking-clothing everywhere she goes. She will often wear the same clothes to work as what she wears at home. That's okay because she works at a kindergarten, and she has to be comfortable playing with kids all day. Just by looking at her clothing, you can tell that she's a down-to-earth and a warm person.

Admittedly, you cannot judge a person by their clothing alone. Young people, for example, will often change their dress styles from month to month and year to year because they are in the process of discovering themselves. The impression you get may be very inaccurate or incomplete in these cases. However, after someone is past this stage in their life, clothing can be a fairly reliable indicator of who they are as a person because their lives will follow a far more regular routine.

Clothing can tell us a lot about an individual. Looking at how someone dresses at work or at home can give you insight into their attitudes and the type of person they are. This is probably less the case with younger people since they are still at a stage where their identity is uncertain, but otherwise you can deduce a lot about a person by looking at their clothes.

If you are selecting a leader for a student organization, honesty is the most important to consider in deciding whom to vote for. 如果為學(xué)生社團(tuán)選擇一位領(lǐng)導(dǎo)者,性格誠(chéng)實(shí)應(yīng)該是你選擇投票給誰時(shí)最重要的考慮因素。

  寫作范文

Honesty is a good quality to lead a student organization. A lot of students vote for a campaign candidate who is loyal and honest as the best one to lead a student organization. As far as I am concerned, being honest is essential in running a students union; however there are other factors that draw the same attention.

Admittedly, telling the truth when dealing with student affairs is helpful for colleagues to improve. In order to fully support other workmate, directly telling them where the problem is and how to correct it are useful. For example, when a colleague who is new to the Office of Student Affairs, makes a mistake in correctly registering student’ names, plainly pointing out his mistake is necessary. In addition to this, it would be also appropriate to tell him that student’ handwritings are normally scratchy, and there would be more typos if he has not paid enough attention to them. In a word, being honest to his mistake would not discourage his working enterprise, but encourage him to work with more cautions. However, on balance, for a leader to manage the team well, being honest is not enough for the absolutely honest to others would hurt their feelings. To avoid this, we have to consider other factors as a leader of a student organization.

To begin with, admitting to personal mistakes is a crucial characteristics for a leader, which sets foundation for self-improvement. If one is unable to acknowledge where he has failed, he will never be able to begin the process of working on the areas of weakness. In order to be a strong leader, one has to make mistakes, and confront them with a desire to do better in the future. This has more to do with improving your competence as a leader, rather than how people perceive you. A leader will constantly be faced with tough decisions. Every leader thus has to take risks, but a good leader takes calculated risks. The only way to get better at this decision-making process is to make mistakes and learn from them. Also, if you are willing to make your mistakes public, the voters and colleagues may be willing to trust you to take bigger risks in the future.

In addition, how to cooperate with other teammates is also worth noticing. In other words, team cooperation is able to improve the efficiency when encountering difficulties. According to a survey conducted by Gallup, after polling hundreds of student leaders from universities in California, a significant percentage of them regard that being cooperative in dealing with problems could get everybody involved when making decisions. During the discussion, suggestions from different members would make the problems comprehensively considered, and hence minimizing the chance to ignoring certain aspects. Meanwhile, letting everyone have an opportunity to express his opinion makes them feel a part of the team, which is essential to build team spirit.

To sum up, there is no denying that honesty could help a student leader to run the organization. However, to consider it as the most important one is too absolute, and there are other factors, such as admitting to errors and teamwork, that are indispensable for a leader to take consideration.
