圣誕節(jié)前夕也就是俗說(shuō)的平安夜，當(dāng)晚，全家人會(huì)團(tuán)聚在客廳中，圍繞在圣誕樹旁唱圣誕歌曲，互相交換禮物，彼此分享一年來(lái)生活中的喜怒哀樂(lè)，表達(dá)內(nèi)心的祝福及愛。在這天晚上都會(huì)看到一群可愛的小男生或小女生，手拿詩(shī)歌彈著吉他，一家一家的唱著詩(shī)歌報(bào)佳音。到底佳音隊(duì)這種節(jié)日活動(dòng)是怎么來(lái)的呢?
耶穌誕生的那一晚，一在曠野看守羊群的牧羊人，突然聽見有聲音自天上傳來(lái)，向他們報(bào)耶穌降生的好消息。根據(jù)圣經(jīng)記載，耶穌來(lái)是要作世人的王，因此天使便透過(guò)這些牧羊人把消息傳給更多的人知道。
后來(lái)人們就效仿天使，在平安夜的晚上到處報(bào)人傳講耶穌降生的消息，直到今日，報(bào)佳音已經(jīng)變成圣誕節(jié)不可缺少的一個(gè)節(jié)目。
通常佳音隊(duì)是由大約二十名青年人，加上一備裝扮成天使的小女孩和一位圣誕老人組成。在平安夜晚上大約是九點(diǎn)過(guò)后，開始一家一家的去報(bào)佳音。每當(dāng)佳音隊(duì)去到一個(gè)家庭時(shí)，先會(huì)唱幾首大家都熟悉的圣誕歌曲，然后再由小女孩念出圣經(jīng)的話語(yǔ)讓該戶人家知道今夜是耶穌降生的日子，過(guò)后大家一起禱告再唱一兩首詩(shī)歌，再由慷慨大方的圣誕老人派送圣誕禮物給那個(gè)家庭中的小廳子，整個(gè)報(bào)佳音的過(guò)程就完成了!
